Flower Vibin 3

This week has been full of fun and positivity, we were able to complete the dress and social experiment. After meeting up with Priscilla and dressing her we headed down to OSU and began passing flowers out to flowers to the public. People were very receptive to taking the flowers and some even stopped and asked what the cause was for. Despite there being a multitude of positivity, there were a few people who were rude when it came to handing our flowers. Overall the day went rely eel and I’m excited to finish the final product.

Finally! We’ve finished the project and I’m more than happy with the end result. I feel like as a group we did an amazing job working together efficiently and productively. When exporting the video I had many troubles exporting but in the end the video came together well. The theme behind the video is bringing darkness to the light. The video opens up with the world of fairies frolicking, dancing, and enjoying happiness. A woman with a broken heart reigns havoc over their kingdom and they have to fight to keep it pure. They win over the evil spirit within the woman by performing a dance ritual and embracing her with love. Eventually she is broken and emerges as one of the faries of love and happiness. There was an array of things I tried when creating the atmosphere, I used liquid latex to key out some of the skin, a hula hooper to provide movement, soft boxes for lighting, a fan, loads of flowers, and a purple sweep for the background. If more time was permitted I would have loved to create an entire backdrop with faux trees, animals, and scenery.

Short Story Project

For this assignment I really want to do a series of high school stories from different people on campus. The stories will remain anonymous to secure to identity of the story teller. For each of the stories I’d like to do a voice over to ensure the emotion is evoked properly. The inspiration of the idea came from me remembering listening to the Harry Potter books as a child. The way the reader embodied the character through voice was awesome and allowed me to create my own vision of what they looked like. This is what I want my readers to do as well, not every story will be embarrassing. I want a variety of stories, some about love, rivalries, fights, pranks, and friendships. I’d do one everyday and post the best 3 of all the interviews.

Videos of inspiration.

Unfortunately due to scheduling complications we had to change the date of the editorial shoot to this coming weekend but fortunately I have footage from the social experiment that I was able to edit. Also the decision to use different models in the dress was made. The project is  about the dress rather than the model, using the same model creates more of a character, causing the project to be more about the model rather than the dress. We decided to use multiple models in the dress to showcase it’s beauty and diversity. The video will consist of unique transitions, experimental fashion, color, elements of wind, and beauty shots. Below are the models we’ll be using!

Flower Vibin 2

After a long conversation with the group about models I thought Priscilla would serve as the perfect look. Priscilla’s skin tone is very rich which would look amazing agents the flowers and translate well through video. Once the model was chosen we then needed to get measurements to begin constructing the dress. Collecting inspirational photo’s and watching social experiment/fashion videos have helped guide me in the right direction for this project. Creating this positive flower goddess persona has ben amazing and I’m excited to see how it all comes together! We’ve set the showcase date to November 4th, leading up to the showcase date I’m going to create promotional videos for our Facebook/Instagram page and bring attention to the final showing. The videos will be very artistic but it will also covey the message that flowers brighten peoples day! Below is the model we’re using and recent inspiration found for the project.

Power of the Flower!

When looking for research I ran across oodles videos/photo’s regarding flowers and happiness! There recently has been a flower movement on Tumblr for men. A gentlemen by the name of Isaiah B. has started the trend and it’s started to catch on. Much like the project we’re doing now people perceive his photo’s as happy because the association with flowers is happiness and beauty. I also ran across a video by “DAZED” which involves flowers and I thought it was great for creative inspiration.

Pipeline Collaborative Project

Showcasing a multitude of mediums is always visually pleasing to the eye. Creating a gallery of colloborative mixed mediums based around a specific subject or word has always been a desire of mine. It’s interesting to see how artists interpret concepts and a gallery full of different art that correlates with one another would be amazing. I’d like to collaborate with different artist on a gallery that showcases our art through our major but mixed together. Anselm-Kiefer-Palmsonntag-2007-44-panels-of-mixed-media-on-board

In the picture above you see how sculpture and illustration was combined to create a piece of art, that’s how I’d like it to look.magic_art_exhibition_04ifp

Week 5: Menagerie Final

Look books tend to be pretty people acting quirky in trendy clothes which is why I wanted to make it slightly more personable. Creating a story and giving the talent personality really allows the clothing to come to life, which Is my primary goal. Each model had a private fitting and meeting with me, in which they learned about their character and the look they’ll be representing, this allowed the shoot to go very smoothly because they already had in their mind the characters personality. The looks were Sporty Chic, Punk Rock, Hipster Prep, and Girly. Levi’s provided an ample amount inspiration, the lifestyle feel of their ad’s causes one to feel as though they know the talent. I avoided clouding the video with dialogue and focused more on body language and scenary. Overall I believe the project went very well and I’m pleased with my end results.

Week 4: Menagerie Update

When picking clothing from the store I decided it would be best to focus on  a menagerie of denims as opposed to all fall fashions. I’m still sticking to the them of showcasing different personalities through fashion though, so there still will be Sporty Chic, Biker Style, Boho Girly, and Wester Prep. Phil elaborated on narrative levels, which was my primary focus. Plot, setting, theme, style, and character were all a huge part in my shoot. I gave each character distinctive qualities to showcase through the video. The storyline is about two girls going on a double date downtown and exploring the Short North together. They end up finding a cool jean shop and begin shopping leaving the store with improved looks. Each character’s personality is showcased through their denim and dialogue. Style was also very important to me because I wanted to ensure the dialogue didn’t make the look book to cinematic and staged, so I kept it to a minimum making body language my primary focus. My goal is to make the commercial very Lifestyle, similar to Levi’s new rebranding so it feels natural. Below are a few photo’s of progress and a little video editing I’ve started. 12004090_10203193242951737_3082409087545944707_n17230_10203193243031739_6225084212183718891_n12019840_10203193243311746_7890857546104755848_n11986315_10203193243471750_8496564835924793939_n

Week 3: Final Concept

So I’ve shopped around my project to a few boutiques in the Short North and Artisan Deluxe was one of the first shops to get on board. Although I was perplexed on which way to go with models, I decided to use professionals but give them more personality by using dialogue. There will be two males and one female and they each will represent a different style. I’ll be doing Sporty Chic, Denim on Denim, and Biker style. These are them models below.

Levi’s Lifestyle photography influenced me to head in that directions for video, I want the viewer to feel as if they are in the moment. levi-jeans-boy-original-75586

Overall I want the models to feel humanized and take you on a journey through fashion and dialogue.
